Waitress Cards?

Perhaps I am not as with it as I had hoped, since I was left slack jawed leaving a local eatery.

Are bars family places? Not necessarily, but most don't mind mom, dad and the kids stopping by for dinner, just as long as they pick up and go pretty quickly. This was one of those places, you could tell that by the waitress suits. Not Hooters skimpy, but.... God, I'm getting old.

The joint had been opened only a couple of weeks. Mrs. T wanted to try it, so with another couple we headed towards the bright lights of the big city. Dinner was bar food, which wasn't unexpected. What may have been unexpected was the servers had no trays.

Whenever an order was ready, a bevy of barmaids, each dressed skimpier than the next appeared, each with one order. Obviously, no one knew who got what, so service was sloppy, and food was cold. No particular reason to return.

Eventually the bill was presented, in our servers "Little Black Book". Cute, eh? Not as cute as the waitress trading card included in her book.

Is that cool or what? Actually our server was Allison, but I traded with the guy at the next table. He had the whole set. As daughter Katy might ask, "could you imagine?"

Skimpy sells. Rio in Las Vegas has "The Bikini Pit" where all the dealers are busty and wearing bikinis. Blackjack pays 7 to 6, bankroll wrecking odds for a serious player, but there's rarely an open seat.

I like the trading cards!

Well, Toad, if you're getting old then I'm positively ancient because there are times when I'm absolutely stunned by what women are allowed to wear to work! And, because so many of us are a "tad" overweight, the sweater is unbelievably tight or cut waaaay too low.
Tsk, tsk.
I'm sure my husband and son would say, "What's the problem?"

I don't see bars as family dining choices. Years ago, children weren't even allowed in. My dad would pick up to go orders of the fabulous hamburgers from Fred P. Ott's on the Plaza in Kansas City. We would eat them in my mom's car -- parked next door to the bar in the circle drive at Swanson's -- because they didn't allow children to enter the establishment. Her car would smell like french fries for weeks. It's still a great memory and a reminder of a time when a lot of things were done differently!

Problem with Otts is that there was no where to sit. Burgers weren't bad though.

The waitresses should refuse to cooperate with that trading card business.

My first impression of the waitress card was that it would be a collectors item for stalkers and weirdos. I certainly wouldn't want my daughter to pass them out.

Tintarosa, I heartily agree. It felt a bit creepy.
